Photographed in black and white by Mario Testino (a long time collaborator of Moss’s), this role marks the first time the British supermodel has modeled in an American shoe designer’s campaign, despite her nearly two-decade career.

Of the shoot, Moss said “I had a great time shooting the Stuart Weitzman campaign and I’m so happy to be the face of the brand this season. Working with Mario Testino is always fun and it was wonderful meeting Stuart on set.”

Anne Hathaway is keeping her short haircut but hopefully forgetting the rest of her Les Misérables hair and makeup tricks

There’s just two weeks to go until the big day. Yes, Les Misérables opens in movie theatres on December 25 and to satisfy our fandom till then we’re watching as much promotional footage as we can. Today’s find via Styleite: a behind-the-scenes look at the hair and makeup that was used to transform the actors on screen.

Lisa Westcott, the hair and makeup artist for Les Misérables said, “How can you make a beautiful woman not look beautiful?” when speaking about turning Anne Hathaway into the character of Fantine, a struggling factory worker who is forced into prostitution in 19th century France.

The video offers an interesting insight: while many thought Hathaway was forced to cut her hair, she was actually the one who decided to chop it all off for the role. While she’s said that the shorter style is one she’s grown to love, the rest of her Les Misérables look won’t be sticking around: “A lot of people had to wear wear plastic moulds on top of their teeth that were painted,” Anne Hathaway explained of her character’s missing and decayed teeth. “I was one of the lucky ones. I didn’t have to wear it, I just had to have my teeth painted.” Read more »

Kate Middleton seems to be getting into the Christmas spirit judging by the outfits we’ve seen her in the past couple of days.

On Monday Kate was seen in Wales at a rugby match in her red LK Bennett coat and yesterday she opted for the other color of Christmas, as she wore a green Mulberry dress at London’s Natural History Museum.

Making a solo appearance as the Guest of Honour at the opening of the museum’s new Treasures Gallery, Kate Middleton stepped out in her green Mulberry Cabbage Peace & Love dress (which she wore last year to a press reception for the Queen at Buckingham Palace) and her black suede Jimmy Choo cosmic pumps.

After an almost 40-year career in fashion, Manolo Blahnik is set to receive a special award from the British Fashion Council next week.

The highly influential footwear designer will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s British Fashion Awards to be held next Tuesday, November 27. The award, which is the most significant of the evening, recognizes a designer who throughout their career has made an important impact on the fashion industry around the world. In the past, the award— voted for by a panel of leading industry journalists and retailers—has previously been given to the likes of Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood.

About receiving the award Blahnik said, “To be recognized for doing something I love is really wonderful.”

Manolo Blahnik is definitely no stranger to award and acclaim. At the British Fashion Awards, he has been named Accessory Designer of the Year three times throughout his career, and in 2007 was awarded the prestigious title of Commander of the British Empire for his work in the British fashion industry. His work was also recognized by the Design Museum in London with a 2003 retrospective of his work and numerous sketches that he uses to begin his design process.

His influence and signature aesthetic have made his shoes one of the most sought after brands in the world, and have been worn by everyone from Michelle Obama to Rihanna, and were of course famously favoured by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. Blahnik’s shoes have been commonly recognized in the fashion world by first name only—“Manolos”—which has made his name synonymous with high-end footwear and luxury around the world for decades.

For those who have been deterred from shopping online for fear of fit problems, a new technology being developed there will soon be a way to make shopping for clothing online easier.British researchers are working on a new body scanning device called Body Shape Recognition for Online Fashion that will allow online shoppers to correctly know what size to buy on any retailers website.

Being developed by the London College of Fashion, the University of Surrey and Bodymetrics, the system has an easy way to determine correct sizing. Shoppers simply input in their height online and then take a full-length picture of themselves with a webcam or cell phone. After putting this information into the system it can then determine all other measurements. Combined with the person’s body proportions the system builds a 3D image of the consumer, and then gives the correct measurements for clothing to be used when shopping online.
