Spa of the month: Spirit Urban Spa, Halifax
From the West Coast to the Atlantic Ocean, Beauty Director Adriana Ermter scours the nation for must-try rejuvenating, relaxing and beautifying spas. This month, she sends Nadine LaRoche to check out Spirit Urban Spa in Halifax.

As my aesthetician Allison lifts my head from the table, I feel all weight release from my body. I’m half way through the one-hour Sweet Skin Organic Facial ($90), which is customized for your skin type, waiting for my strawberry rhubarb mask to hydrate and replenish my skin and Allison has taken the opportunity to massage apricot oil into my scalp. Only moments earlier, she’d rubbed all the kinks and aches out of my shoulders and arms while a mask of rosehip and maize worked to exfoliate my congested pores. Now, her head rub complete, warm towels are wrapped across my face and I’m in for another round: a second helping of whipped apricot moisturizer, an herbal eye cream and a citrus balm for my parched lips. Later, I take a quick repose in the tranquility lounge, before RMT Aynsley guides me to a softly lit room where I’m scrubbed from toe to shoulder with ground-up rosehip seeds, the precursor to the Canadian Rosehip Body Wrap ($95) treatment. After each corner of my body has been sloughed and rubbed, and following a quick shower to cleanse, I’m back on the table to have Aynsley massage moisturizing rosehip oil into my skin. As I’m enveloped in layer after layer, my knees propped and my head in capable hands, I give in to yet another soothing scalp massage, dreading the moment I must be released from my cozy cocoon.
