How to rock multiple makeup colours at the same time: 4 bright eyed Beauty Panel tips
You’ve perused numerous Pinterest boards and clocked countless YouTube hours obsessing over beauty junkies who fearlessly rock vibrant hues all over their eyelids. Isn’t it time you stopped being timid of those lonely and unused bright eyeshadows in your makeup bag and joined in?
While the Chanel Spring 2014 look offered an inventive way to wear just about every colour in the rainbow at once, we’re dialing the trend back and approaching bright eyeshadows from an everyday point of view. From creating an ombré across your eyelid to pairing complementary shades along your bottom and top lashline, this look is all about colour theory. While a walking art deco look is definitely a head turner, channeling (pun intended) a full-on Chanel Spring 2014 look is probably not a realistic look during the day, especially not for work. You can, however, rock a bright shadow duo look as long as you pick two colours from the same family, for example: blues with greens and reds with oranges. Apply the lighter colour on the lid, I like using a stubby pencil as you can control the lines and with one sweep, you can cover almost your entire lower lid. Next, take the darker colour and start at the corner of the eye, apply on the crease going up and stop halfway. Lightly blend in the two colours together but try not to keep the two distinct so you end up with an almost ombré effect.
Since your eyeshadows are both bold and striking, keep the rest of your make-up minimal. One quick tip to try for your lips? The textured lips featured at this month’s Beauty Panel!

With the cold weather slowly creeping in and draining colour and life out of everything I can’t help but reach for bright hues in my makeup stash in an attempt to hold on to summer. This yellow Inglot eyeliner is the epitome of a warm sunny day. I applied it generously all over my mobile lid and locked it in with an equally beautiful and vibrant Annabelle Yellow Pigment to ensure longevity and settle the tackiness of the eyeliner. I kept the crease and rest of the lid clean by dusting on a natural shadow. To add some fun contrast I applied the brightest blue eyeliner to my lower lid and smudged it on the eyelashes in lieu of a coloured mascara. I then followed with a cream eyeliner and traced a sharp cat eye, which in my opinion ties the look together and tones it down a notch. Lots of black mascara makes for a great contrast between the dark lashes and the vibrant yellow shadow.

Bright colours can be worn bold for a fierce evening look or made softer for daywear. It all depends on the colours that you are using and how you’re applying them!
To pull off two bright shadows that won’t feel too intimidating to wear during the day, pair together shades within the same colour family (I chose a bright purple and blue) and apply them only to your lids. Soften the colours by blending them into each other for a pretty transition and then buff out the edges in your crease. I absolutely had to go a little bolder with this look and you can follow suit by applying a medium-toned grey to your crease with a fluffy crease brush to create a nice smokey finish. To give balance to this makeup look, apply a soft pink blush and neutral lip-gloss so your eyes remain as the main focal point!
