Despite not being a national holiday, many treat St. Patrick’s day as such. For kids, it’s an excuse for green flavoured treats and decorations. When you’re in university, it’s an all day booze-fest filled to the brim with green shots and beer. But in the real world, there are limited way to get in on the St. Patrick’s day celebrations in a responsible and glamorous way. Let’s face it—face paint never looks good in an office.

Lucky for us, pastel green makeup was all over the Spring 2014 runways, making it an ideal—and on-trend—way to add some holiday spirit to your look come Monday. (Of course, we’re also totally into wearing pastel makeup beyond St. Patty’s day celebrations.) Badgley Mischka did an all over wash of mint green on the lid in a soft hue, set off by a white eyeliner on the rim and a rosy lip.  For an even bolder look, do what Antonio Marras did: a streak of colour in the crease, overtop a softer shade of pastel green—made all the more vibrant with a bright pink lip. Or make pastel green your go-to colour for a smoky eye. In a romantic twist, Giorgio Armani used the soft shade to create an ethereal look that was further complemented with a wispy updo. Should you seek inspiration beyond the runway, we asked the Beauty Panel for their tips and techniques on wearing pastel green. Read on to see their looks and get yourself into an all-green mood for Monday.

Come to think of it, I don’t think I own any clothing that is green, other than maybe one random T-shirt. With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, if you can’t find anything green to wear, then why not wear green for your makeup look? I know that some people can find it a bit intimidating, as green (if done incorrectly) can look a bit garish or over the top. For my makeup look, I applied the green eyeshadow on my lid, but used a more bronze tone in the crease and bottom eyelid to soften the look. As well, I kept the rest of my makeup (cheeks/lips) quite neutral to keep this look still wearable for everyday wear.

Beauty Tip : If using green eyeshadow seems a bit daunting, try introducing green into your makeup look by using a green eyeliner as an accent colour on your bottom waterline, while keeping everything else neutral! The little pop of colour will make your eyes stand out, especially if they are a dark colour like brown.

Pastel eyeshadows were a huge hit not only on the Spring 2014 runways and I’m loving it! You can take it from soft and minimalistic to bright and dramatic, which is what I love about it. Since I love wearing colour on my eyes, I went a bit to the extreme and created this bright pastel eye inspired by the makeup on the Badgley Mischka Spring 2014 show.

I applied an aqua blue to my lids and dotted a pale baby blue on the center of my lids for extra brightness. Then instead of lining my eyes with black liner, I applied a shimmery aqua blue liquid liner to my upper lash line and the outer 1/3 of my lower lash line. This step can be left out if you’re looking to create a softer look.

Lastly, I applied a cool pink to my cheeks and some highlight, and added a bold pink lip for fun. If you prefer a quieter lip, just apply a pink gloss to your lips.
