3 things we love about the Tom Ford Lips and Boys collection

As you may have heard, last weekend (Black Friday through Cyber Monday), Tom Ford launched a limited edition collection of his iconic shades in mini bullets. The lipsticks in the line, called  Lips and Boys, are named after men in Ford’s life and unfortunately, was not available in Canada…until now. Okay, well not now now, but soon. On December 26th, Lips and Boys will hit Holt Renfrew stores across Canada for eight weeks—or until it sells out. We can’t wait to get our hands on the line and here’s why:

Lipsticks named after dudes
Why didn’t someone think of this before? Not since the launch of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in “Boy,” have we ever considered purchasing a lipstick solely for its shade name. Will this spur other cosmetic brands to rethink their naming conventions? Yes, please. Because as much as we love the products behind makeup and nail polish hues like “Orgasm and “I’’m Not Really a Waitress,” we can’t help but fall for the idea of wearing a man’s name on our lips.

Size matters
There are 50 (50!) shades to choose from ranging from reds and pinks to browns and metallics——there’’s even a silver bullet. And each tube is half the size of a regular lipstick, so one fits easily in your pocket or clutch, but so would two or three… or four. In this case, infidelity is encouraged.

Baby name wizard
The collection’’s monikers are male influences in Ford’’s life, including his toddler son. Actually, his son Alexander has two shades named after him (a sugary pink, and a creamy lavender) because his parents call him Jack. Is it weird that we kind of consider the shade names a list of Tom Ford-approved baby names? Expectant parents, please note that Jaxxon, Ace and Nirvana did NOT make the cut.

The Tom Ford Lips and Boys collection ($35 each) will be available at Holt Renfrew stores across Canada starting December 26.
