Fashion Month has come and gone, and we’ve rounded up the top fashion trends from the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris and are making our shopping lists and checking them twice for the upcoming season. When it comes to beauty, the Fall 2015 runways really blew us away. From epic ponytails to insane face art, there are so many new looks we cannot wait to try out IRL. We asked our Beauty Panel to show off some of their favourite Fall 2015 beauty trends, so browse on to see their picks!

I have been completely in love with the veiled beanie ever since I saw a DIY version on Style Scrapbook. Probably inspired by Chanel and Giambattista Valli there’s something chic about the combination of the urban beanie and the feminine throwback of veiled eyes. Not a beauty trend from the Fall shows but Chanel and Valli give us a good idea of how to wear veiled looks during the Spring 2015 runway shows. Chanel’s cross hatched mesh version pairs with a slightly darkened uni-brow and orange red lips. Since only Frida Kahlo can truly rock the unkempt eyebrow look, I decided to keep the essence of Chanel’s Spring 2015 runway beauty look by using no eye makeup and only colour on the lips.

If you’d rather go the opposite route, Giambattista does bare lips with silver darkened smokey eyes behind a polka dot face veil. To each their own, but I like how Chanel’s red lips stand out against covered eyes. No-makeup eyes look purposeful rather than undone, and your lips and the beanie stand out together.

This season the runways were riddled with fresh-faced beauties rocking luminous skin, barely-there makeup, man-made freckles, and slicked back hair. I fell especially hard for the makeup looks seen on the models in the Erin Fetherson, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Donna Karan runway shows – each model looked ethereal, angelic, and naïve with a hint of sophistication.

I’ve always admired those who are able to rock the minimal makeup look on a daily basis – it says a lot about a person’s confidence. And at the age of 25, I finally feel that my skin has an even texture and tone, and remains blemish-free long enough that I’m able to ditch the heavy makeup for the majority of my work days. I always begin my foundation routine with a primer and I’ve currently been loving the Make Up For Ever Skin Equalizer Nourishing Primer, which contains hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate, giving an even texture and feel to my skin. Plus, the velvety rich formula melts into my skin quickly and truly extends the wear of my foundation, which for a luminous look is, of course, the Estée Lauder Double-Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup. This BB cream is spectacular in terms of it’s wear-time, radiance, and coverage, and never feels heavy or suffocating on my skin.

To hide the darkness below my eyes I paint the YSL Touche Éclat in the shape of an inverted triangle and then blend it out with my Real Techniques brush. In order to maintain the glow of this foundation I’ve decided to skip powder completely, and instead add extra radiance using a cream product, the Make Up For Ever Skin Equalizer Radiance Primer in Blue. By tapping this primer into the inner corners of my eye, as well as the high portions of my face I instantly amp up the luminosity of my look, giving my complexion a fresh-glow. To finish off the look I’ve lightly filled in my brows using the Victoria Jackson Taupe Brow Pencil, and curled my lashes for a wide-awake look using the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. Now simply top with a light spritz of the Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix and rest assured that your minimal makeup look will keep glowing all day long.

A satin finish face, soft lips, and long lashes. Tom Pecheux’s look for Altuzarra Spring 2015 tops my list of favourites. It’s natural, a little romantic but with a haunting “pshycho doll” oddness to it with the false lashes.

For the face, I used a light-medium coverage foundation with a satin finish to achieve natural-yet-perfected skin, contoured my face (quite a bit more heavily than I’m used to) to mimic a model-esque cheekbone, and added a touch of pink blush for a doll-like glow.

I cut a wispy pair of false lashes into quarters and applied the longest pieces just slightly off-centre from the pupil towards the outer edges of the eyes. To blend my natural lashes and the falsies, I applied a lengthening mascara. Then, I applied mascara to my lower lash line, limiting my use to the centre of the lashes only.

Lastly, for the lips, I blended my foundation overtop in order to ease a slight overdrawing of the lip line with a light pink lipstick.

And there you have it. A re-creation of Tom Pecheux for Altuzarra Spring 2015. This isn’t a look for everyday but certainly a unique twist on a natural look for the runway.

There’s just something about graphic liner that calls to me, and this year’s fashion month was no different. There were so many options, lots of bold hues and purposely flawed application, but one that stood out to me specifically was the new take on classic winged liner at Prada. I find it so interesting that the thick winged liner unexpectedly cuts off mid-eye, adding an almost animated feel to the whole look.

To recreate this look, makeup artist Sarah Jamieson used MAC’s Fluidline Gel Liner in Blitz and Glitz on me with the 263 Small Angle Brush. The key to this application is definitely taking your time, as with any precision look. Remember, it’s always easy to add more product, but far more difficult to take it away. To get a super crisp wing, dip a synthetic brush into makeup remover rather than using a Q-tip to touch up lines.

One of my favourite runway beauty looks from NYFW is from the Cushnie et Ochs Show! What a dramatic-winged cat liner! Can anyone say “Meow”?! A perfect beauty look to go clubbing or a nice evening out about town!

I found the skin was very dewy and foundation was minimal, so I opted for a radiant pink-toned primer to give me a brighter complexion. Then I followed that with some liquid-based corrector/illuminator/concealer under the eyes and also spot-treated any parts of my face that had a bit of redness. I sort of used it like a foundation and just blended it out into a thin layer. I didn’t set it with any powder to maintain the dewy finish.

Next I followed that by some soft sculpting with a shimmer contour and highlight duo just under the cheekbones, down the sides of my nose, temples and jawline, blending everything out with a soft blush brush. Boy! I definitely need to suck in my cheeks to get that chiseled model-look though!

For the eyes, I started off with some primer, since my eyelids tend to be super oily. This will help the eyeliner stay put all day! I used a liquid liner pen with a super fine tip to map out the general cat-eye shape and then filled it in. I didn’t quite extend it as far or as dramatic as they did for the catwalk, so that the look could actually be worn in public!

The bottom lash line was kept clean, however I did grab some of that highlight colour from the sculpting duo and added a light shimmer to the inner corners of my eyes to make them pop! I curled my wimpy lashes and used some lengthening mascara and also made my brows quite bold!

I finished off by softly dabbing some light pink lipstick onto my lips for a playful pout, but making sure not to take away the focus from my eyes! Then did a final finishing spray all over the face, which helped the makeup last longer and also gave an overall dewy finish to my skin!

Now off to strut my stuff down the runway…or maybe the grocery aisle!

I’m not a huge follower of Fashion Week, mainly because I can never afford the gorgeous clothes. But I do love the makeup looks the designers have to offer. Fashion Week means plenty of new inspiration for both fashion and beauty connoisseurs. My favourite for 2015 is the double graphic liner. This is probably the most wearable trend this spring, that I believe can be pulled off by any eye type.

The double graphic liner was commonly seen in Fashion Week throughout various shows from Nanette Lepore at New York Fashion Week to Mikhael Kale at Toronto Fashion Week. To recreate the look, I first primed my face and under the eyes, used a paint pot as a base for the eyelids, and filled in my brows. I went in with a full coverage foundation, and a lighter-than-my-skintone under eye concealer to brighten. I used a pigmented bronzer to get strong bronzed cheekbones and lightly dusted it over the rest of my face. Then I generously applied my highlighter under the eyes and above the cheekbones.

For the double graphic liner eye look, I began by applying a light mauve and taupe colour in my crease. I then applied the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a base on my lids. It didn’t go on smoothly so I blended it out and re-applied until it was semi-opaque. I continued to darken the crease while re-applying the white, carefully, until I had a smooth line. I blended out the inner corners so the white wouldn’t be so vibrant because we want the outer corners to stand out more. I then applied a black gel liner close to my lash line and created a winged line. I went over the white base with a thinner white liner for precision and to enhance the colour. I continued to go over this and the black liner until it was opaque and stayed put. I then set the two colours with a matte white and black eyeshadow. I finished the lips with a mix of 2 shades, a nude and a pink, because I don’t own a light matte neutral, which is what I’d prefer to use with this look. I did leave the lashes bare, partially because I didn’t have an eyelash curler with me but also because I realized it brought out the bold contrast of the shadows.

During fashion month, one of my favourite looks was from Carolina Herrera because of its simplicity, wear-ability and sophistication. The eyes were kept simple, except for the false lashes with frosted tips. Lips were a matte crimson and juxtaposed with dewy and radiant skin.

To achieve the look, I used a medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation and highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, under and over brow arches, the cupid’s bow and bridge of the nose with a luminous highlighting powder. For the cheeks, I used NARS blush in Luster, but if you want a more striking look then consider a wine coloured blush.

Keeping eyeshadow at a minimum, I only used what was necessary to warm up and define the crease with a bit of MAC Arena eyeshadow and a matte peach shadow from the Sonia Kashuk Eye Palette in Neutral. I omitted the frosted tips and opted for wispy false lashes, which blended seamlessly with my natural lashes after a good curling (no mascara necessary).

The show-stopper of the entire look is the matte crimson lips, which happens to be an upcoming matte lip lacquer from MAC (it is unreleased as of yet). Luckily, I reached for one of the new Lise Watier Baiser Velours, which is a matte lip cream with great opaque coverage.

Fashion Month is over and I’ve loved following all the runway shows and seeing what the newest fashion, makeup and hair trends are for 2015! One that caught my attention was Rodarte’s “crystal eyeliner” from the Fall 2015 collection at NYFW. The clothes were stunning of course, but it was the small details that really made me totally swoon. They used strips of Swarovski crystals under the eyes to create a delicate and totally beautiful “under eyeliner” effect. While this isn’t something you’d wear to work (or maybe you would? I’m not judging!) I was excited to try it for myself.

I used small plastic gems I had left over from a nail art set and used eyelash glue to adhere them. I have to be honest, it was tricky applying them! I had to use a Q-tip and some makeup remover to wipe off the excess glue around a few of the gems but overall I think it came out nicely. This would be a really fun festival look or for a super jazzy night out on the town. Rodarte kept the rest of the makeup very simple—no eyeliner and no heavy brows or eyeshadow. I did the same and while I felt a little naked without liquid liner I still enjoyed the look a lot!

The Fall 2015 fashion shows were exploding with amazing makeup, hair and nails. I especially adored the look from DAKS during London Fashion Week. The girls looked very British-cool with their exaggerated eyes, and minimalist skin. My favorite part of this look was the nail art, created by MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Keri Blair. The abstract brush strokes in red and black made this nail art stand out beautifully.

Here I recreated the look by first painting my nails with two coats of a nude tone. Once dry, I dotted red on the bottom right and middle left of each nail (dot and brush each nail one by one). I created the strokes using my detailer brush and lightly flicking the paint along the nail. Next I continued with black polish. Using the same technique I dotted the bottom middle and the top middle, using the brush to slightly connect the two. This look is so amazing because there is plenty of room for experimentation; imperfection is perfection. I’m so excited to try this out in different color schemes!

For my makeup, I kept my skin quite natural. Only a touch of blush was applied on the apples of the cheek after applying concealer and mineral powder. Dap a bit of lip balm on to keep the lips nice and hydrated. For the eyes I kept the lids neutral as well, and let the liner be the focus creating a slightly winged edge on the top and bottom with a black pencil (applied with a brush for extra precision). Use a white liner in your lower water line to really open up the eyes. Top the look off with black mascara, and add lashes for a little extra oomph.

Now throw straight, carefree locks into the equation and you’ve got yourself a look right off the runway!
