How to wear glitter during the holidays (and still sit at the adults table)

Glitter is a no-brainer during the holiday season, but no matter what, once you slather it on and look in the mirror, it always initially seems a bit…much. However, there are definitely ways to wear it without having it look like total overkill. And to show you how to do just that, we enlisted our Beauty Panel.

Your nails are a total fashion accessory, bringing your entire outfit together and telling the story of your holiday look. A traditional red is a hit; however, a gold nail brings out the richness of Christmas. During the holidays, everyone wants to look their very best and a little bit of gold helps to lift up the simplest outfit and take a fashionista to the look she desires. You can have a black nail with a hint of gold, or gold all over.

One of the trends I’ve seen popping up all over social media is the glitter trend. Glitter liner, glitter nails, and of course, glitter roots. I have even recently asked my boyfriend what it would take to let me glitter up his beard (apparently nothing in the world would make him want to do that). After thinking about how I would wear this trend, I decided to try it out on my brows. Eyebrows are a fun and unexpected way to wear a little shimmer and shine. They are great to showcase something like this since they are front row and centre.

To create this look I did my brows as usual; groom, fill in, and conceal around for a sharp edge. Then I took my awesome glitter kit from Lit and applied the liquid base directly to my brows. To add a bit of dimension, I used a couple different shades of glitter (pink, gold and white). Before trying this out, I thought for sure I would feel super weird walking around with glitter as brows…but surprisingly I totally dug it. I couldn’t help but think I may just wear this out for New Years Eve!

Happy Holidays everyone!

I am a tad obsessed with gold, glitter and the holidays. My beauty routine is fairly simple so when it comes to my nails I will often go bright or sparkly. In the past I have done glitter tips or just one nail on each hand with glitter but this year I decided to go all out with gold sparkly nails. Perfect for New Years!

To achieve this look I would recommend doing two coats of gold or silver polish depending on your choice of glitter. Next apply two coats of your glitter nail polish. Make sure to do a top coat and give your nails some time to dry since I find the glitter is easy to move around or dent.

Come the holiday season, glitter is all the rage and what better way to celebrate the festivities by dousing your fingertips in glitter (TBH, glitter is all the rage all year around on my fingertips).

My kind of glitter is the one that looks like a metallic from far away but if you look really, really closely there’s actually tiny bits of multi-faceted rainbow sparkles (i.e. microglitter). Glitter can often be taken too far or appear a bit garish, so I think it’s best paired with something simple, a nude polish for instance.

To get this look, I painted my nails a couple coats of a non-streaky nude. Then, I carefully drew two overlapping lines of glitter polish at the tips of my nails to create a pointed v-shape. And there you have it. Together, nude polishes and glitter polishes are the perfectly refined holiday pairing.

NYE is all about glitter and what better way to stand out and take it to the next level than by glittering up your hair? I might also add, glitter is a great way to glitz up hair you might not have time to wash due to running around or taking too long to do your make-up.

I like to prep my roots with a bit of Argan oil. This step will make sure the glitter will come off during washing with ease. Next I mixed craft and nail glitter in a bowl with some liquid hair gel, then I painted the mixture onto my greasy roots and proceeded to style my hair.
