Nonie Creme
Matte polish is sweeping the nail nation, and it was Butter London co-founder and creative director Creme who spearheaded the trend at Alexander Wang’s Fall 2009 show. With 15 years of show experience, the manicurist’s indie brand (which she uses backstage) has only recently been thrust into the spotlight. But don’t expect her to launch her own matte range now. “At Butter London, we always say that we lead, we never follow. The lesson I learned was: Don’t ever use anything at the shows you don’t already have in production.”
Creme's inspirations:
Alexander Wang: “I was thinking about a mannequin’s hand—no blemishes, hyperperfect. we did two coats of “Yummy Mummy,” followed by a coat of Nail Foundation; a silk-finish base coat. It’s almost like suede—quite sensual, very clean. but not French pink and shiny. That’s so over.”
Butter London Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat ($21) and 3 Free Lacquer (shown, $17, both butterlondon.com) in “Yummy Mummy”
