Spring 2010 beauty report: Nude makeup
This season’s natural makeup has been stripped of girlish prettiness and taken on a boyish charm.
{SPRING BEAUTY GUIDE}
Can the natural makeup look be reinvented? Makeup artists keep finding a way: This season, it’s been stripped of girlish prettiness to give it an edge. “It’s kind of raw, and how a cool girl would wear her makeup,” says Gucci Westman, global artistic director for Revlon, backstage at Rag & Bone. “Not too overdone. There are no lines anywhere, nothing graphic.” Using brown, cream and gold tones on the models, Westman aimed to “enhance their natural highlights and shadows so that they look a little bit stronger, have a little more depth.” Top lashes received a lick of mascara, and brows were defined as needed. Similar palettes and a light approach were employed at Akris and Burberry Prorsum.
