Editor’s Picks: Blue Eyeliner

Beauty director Laura Keogh’s summer picks.

Sometimes, when it comes to beauty, it’s good to create a buffer zone between tried-and-true trends. Take black eyeliner: Makeup artists packed theirs away this spring to give a little lip service to navy, knowing full well that, as in the season before and the season to come, they’d be poised right back on the nubs of their inkwell pencils. But it was time for a breather since “the clothes were so colourful this season. It made sense to bring a lot of that colour up to the face,” explains makeup artist Marco Berardini. Cobalt looks stunning on every skin tone, but keep in mind that “the older you are, the more it should be anchored with black,” says Berardini. So consider pairing it with a helping of black mascara.
