Fall Beauty: Runway Report
A look at the season’s daring trends that ruled across the international runways—New York, Milan and Paris.
SCARLET FEVER
We’ve never met a scarlet we didn’t love. Luckily, red lips truly fit the bill for a season that Gordon Espinet, M.A.C’s vice-president of makeup artistry, describes as “aggressive.” Don’t coil away into your makeup bag of neutrals just yet; it’s not about looking hard—“just a much more daring approach to makeup.” When taking the plunge, try keeping your skin “fresh and luminous, and make it as un-made-up as possible,” advises Gucci Westman Neville, Lancôme’s international artistic director and the artist behind Peter Som’s orchid-inspired fuchsia and deep red mixture.
Try:
Annabelle Rouge velours lipstick ($8, at drugstores) in “Red Satine”
Vincent Longo velvet riche lipstick ($33, sephora.com) in “dakota red”
Lancôme color design Lipcolor ($25, at department stores) in “Red Stiletto”
