Lighten up

Weightless hair, body and cosmetic products are beauty’s version of a summer diet.

Light-headed

UV rays can dehydrate hair, leaving it looking dull and feeling brittle. “Hair needs moisture in the summer,” says Melissa Gill, director of marketing for Joico. Shampoos and conditioners with ingredients like tourmaline, citrine and liquid rock crystal give hair sparkle and moisture. Leave-in products containing SPF shield hair colour from fading.

Lighten up with: Shampoos and conditioners from lines like John Frieda Collection Brilliant Brunette Shine Release ($10, at drugstores), Schwarzkopf Blondme Reflective and Nourishing Luminosity (from $15, at salons), and Aussie Sun-Touched Shine ($5, at drugstores). Protect with Redken UV Rescue Shimmering Defense ($21) and L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Solar Sublime Advanced Protection Conditioning Spray ($22, both at salons).
