Elite: Wendy Iles
LAURA KEOGH catches the jetsetter on the fly to talk about her new book, bad hair days and the most overrated hair product.
With a passport that has earned enough stamps to rival those of her big-name clients, world-renowned hairstylist Wendy Iles’ career has whisked her from her Tasmanian home to London, where she was schooled at Sassoon, and back again, to open her own salon — all by the age of 20. Now, jumping between fashion capitals Paris and New York, she has built a resumé that reads like an issue of People, listing star clients such as Penélope Cruz, Monica Bellucci and Marion Cotillard, as well as luxury designers like Nina Ricci, Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel; magazines including international editions of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour; and beauty companies L’Oréal, Wella and Schwarzkopf. And with the debut of her first book, Archive: A BookAbout Hair, Iles adds authoring duties to her lineup of accomplishments.
