Spa alert: Juva MedSpa

Spa alert: Juva MedSpa

Posted on June 23, 2008

There is a new girl on the block in the medi-spa department, and she sure is pretty. The spacious and chic Juva MedSpa (91 Scollard St., 416-960-JUVA, juvamedspa.com) hits a sweet spot of medical facility-meets-boutique: It’s located on salon row on Scollard street in Yorkville and has medical cred (it's owned by Aurelia Chiru, a longtime cosmetic nurse, and is overseen by a G.P.).

Offering a standard but extensive menu of peels, Botox and medical facials, Aurelia (a foxy advertisement for her own services if there ever was one) took one look at my face and handily talked me into a series of six microdermabrasion treatments, spaced roughly 3 weeks apart. And while I've had microderm before and been pleased with the results, the series of treatments, plus the application of the Environ Facial Treatment System, a gel infused with vitamins A and C  that was pumped into my face with sound waves after each treatment, produced a noticeable improvement in my skin. It looked brighter, fresher, and elicited this from a new acquaintance:  "I can't believe you're…!" Well, I'll let you guess the last part, but suffice to say, I'm going back. Microdermabrasion treatments, $149 each or $189 with the Environ gel.
