Coffee bum

Though I love a good cup just as much as the next person, I’m really picky about my coffee. Starbucks is way too bitterly strong, Second Cup is, well, meh and I don’t get why Tim’s is such a hit. And having bad coffee when I’m out for brunch can really make or break the meal. (I’m looking at you, Saving Grace.) I’ve recently stumbled upon a killer brew: Reunion Island’s Organic Ethiopia Sidamo, which I buy from a shop on Queen East called Red Rocket. I can even make it at home and it will taste just as delish—the true test.

I love it when a product has a back-story steeped in history, such as the one behind Crème Ancienne by Fresh (from $167, fresh.com). When I met with co-founder Lev Glazman last week, he told me that when LVMH bought his company in 2000, one of the appealing things was that it gave him access to their labs, allowing him to expand on his ideas for products, such as the “ultimate” moisturizer.

Brow blunders can really distract me. I once chased after a fellow editor with a brow pencil because hers were too sparse and too short and I could not continue our conversation until the issue was amended. I’ve also stood, slack-jawed in horror as a subway pulled away, staring at a woman inside with the most cartoonish, pencil thin, curved lines serving as brows.
