And we’re off…
Posted on April 26, 2008
I stepped in as the online editor for FASHIONMagazine.com at the end of March and I thought it was about time I said hello. I’m really thrilled to be jumping into the website right now; there are so many exciting things happening, like our partnership with MySpace and the big one, our Reporter Search. I’m especially thrilled about this contest, since it lets our team peer into those corners of the country we don’t normally see.
As I write this, I’m sitting in Heathrow airport, waiting to catch a flight. (I swear, I’m not being dramatic, just really behind deadline.) I’m headed to Barcelona to check out the Mango fall collection and to check out their design headquarters. This is my first big press junket, so as you can imagine, I’m suitably excited – if only to have the chance to oil up my university Spanish and eat some scrumptious jamón serrano.
What I’m really looking forward to is taking in some Barcelonese style: everything from Gaudí’s famous, defining, modernisme to pieces from local Spanish designers. Even though I’m sitting outside the Heathrow Burberry, dire airport conditions and a sea of sweat clothes are making me hungry for some flash. Watch this space for dispatches from Mango and the streets of Barcelona.
A special thanks to our fashion director, Susie Sheffman, for coming up with the clever name for this column. We love a down and dirty pun here and she is the best.
