Milan: Day three

Milan: Day three

I've just come from the Prada show where I'm always wowed! It's Mecca in Milan. There's nothing quite like the pre-show buzz and it’s anyone's guess what Miuccia will do next. No matter what, it's sure to make everything that you've seen prior seem almost insignificant!

Such was the case tonight, as Mrs. Prada (as she is respectfully addressed by her staff) said buh-bye to spring's fairy wood nymphs and turned out a stunningly strict, sombre collection cut almost exclusively in lace. There was a subversive, controlled eroticism in nude underpinnings (dickies!) peeking out of lace dresses, skirts and button-down shirts.

Hair was scraped back under leather lace snoods, and shoes and bags had ruffled panels that looked almost like fins. Ladylike with long, lean lines and peplums, it was utterly chic and grown up. Gotta love that she shows heavy hosiery for spring but bare legs for fall.

Earlier this morning it was a ruffle kerfuffle at both Moschino and Sportmax.

Bally's luxe boho girls had a folkloric Eastern European feel, while Etro's winterscape had plenty of earthtones, Mongolian lamb and shearling. See photos from Etro's show.

It's a rather quiet week here, with a noticeable absence of front-row celebs due to the upcoming Oscars. But I hear Lindsay Lohan and Sheryl Crow will make appearances at Dolce & Gabbana on Thursday. Stay tuned. Dashing off to 6267 and din-din to further dissect Prada!

Ciao!
