It was a birthday special in Paris on Monday with Cacharel celebrating it’s 50th and Martin Margiela looking back on his 20-year design career.

It’s blazing Indian summer in Paris, which poses a bit of a problem because the collections kicked off here this weekend. But even a rare sunny day couldn’t keep me away from the Palais de Tokyo, Paris’s contemporary art happening space, where Gareth Pugh posed a series of neon poles for a futuristic show of light and dark with razor sharp tailored armor.

Sitting here anticipating the start of Dolce & Gabbana, one of the surefire highlights of the week—I secretly love the wait—it’s the same each season and I've come to relish the scene. In a few minutes J.Lo, Rihanna and Matthew McConaughey will have the paparazzi flashbulbs going wild.

Well here's something I never thought I'd say: I loved the turquoise eyeshadow at Gucci! There's something about the way the girls always look at a Gucci show, every single season, without fail. The makeup is super glossy gorgeousness and the hair is always bouncin’ and behavin’. Makes you want to be a Gucci girl. Or at least own the company, because all I can say after tonight's show is ca-ching ca-ching!! Sitting front row and looking majorly svelte was Rihanna.

Waiting for a Prada show to begin is always an electrifying experience. First there's the mad crush at the door, next, the confused scramble through a maze of seating, followed by the whispered buzz about what Mrs. Prada, as her staff lovingly call her, is about to show. Trust me: You can guess all you want, you will never get it right!

It’s a gorgeous, sunny day in Milan today as eds from all camps trudge from show to showroom in the uniform du jour—the shortest skirt or dress and the longest, leanest legs you've ever seen this side of a runway. Bare, tanned, and made to look even longer and leaner by way of the "sandal boot" (don’t even try to call it a shoe) that’s somewhere between a heavy duty, open toe, cut-out ankle boot and a leg-wrapping gladiator sandal. A fierce, fabulous hybrid with a tough, dominatrix edge, it has totally eclipsed the bag as the numero uno front-row accessory.
So far shoes on the runway have been big honkin' platform wedges, but the week has just begun. Talk to me after Wednesday, shoe day in Milano!

I'm here! Landed this morning and literally hit the ground running. Wish I could say the same for my suitcase, which obviously thought this week was Paris Fashion Week and ditched me for the City of Lights.

I write this from the back of the number 70 bus, my trusted shuttle service this week for the daily back-and-forth from my West End flat to London Fashion Week’s HQ in South Kensington. It’s the last day of shows today, three to go and counting!

Caught up in a delayed tube line, a maddeningly late bus and typically congested Oxford Street traffic to start, I found myself on a foreign block in Bloomsbury dashing down cobblestone roads in croc platform heels, frantically searching for “The Dairy,” site of Erdem’s Spring 2009 show.

Day three, and the skies are still looking friendly. That should be some kind of rain record for this city, no? Word on the street says it’s going to last all week. Hurray! That means bare legs, minis and towering stilettos will stay out in full force for the rest of Fashion Week.

The best part of day two was at 8:30 p.m. when a Beatle sang in my ear. Now I know Sir Paul McCartney doesn’t normally fit on a fashion blog but when one of the world’s most legendary musicians is standing right beside you at his daughter’s charity auction that’s something to write about!

In a toast to my adopted homeland, I’m writing my first London Fashion Week blog with a cup of English Breakfast tea in hand. After an exhausting first day running from South to North to Central London, I’m ready to tuck in with or without the traditional crumpet and jam.

The day started beautifully: I sneaked out early from the People's Revolution/Hint mag party in Tribeca, completely cocktail free! Woke up early enough to have a quick work out and a coffee and arrived at Ralph Lauren as fresh as a daisy. Not bad for the last day of fashion week (although I have showroom appointments on Sat and Sun).

Can't stop stalking Paris Vogue editor (can't figure out what her name is!?!) in black silk satin YSL jumpsuit and gorgeous but painful looking black satin pumps (Miu Miu), Fabien Baron with his big big brain: The redesign of Interview mag makes my toes curl with ecstasy!

Nothing cures a hangover like a shot of strong American sportif, with models thumping the runway to “Our Lips are Sealed” by the Go-Go's and the Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations.” Thank you, Michael Kors! You rock in that delicious, crisp, sharp, sexy, polished way that is undeniable eye candy. I definitely want one of the glossy visor hats to replace my silly, big black Ellen Christine straw hat. (It looks positively old fashioned next to your futuristic nautical, rich bitch version.) Mr. Kors hit it home with a strong collection of nautical-inspired looks—very Deauville-meets-Nantucket. I scanned the faces of the models I saw at the Prada party the night before to see who was heavy-lidded too, but they all looked fresh as daisies, bitches.

Just left the Prada party after a couple of cocktails on a relatively empty stomach and I am feelin' funky and ready to spill the beans! Not to start back-to-front, but it seems fitting: The Prada party is a regular fete at the SoHo store during New York Fashion Week and the usual hangers-on were there, along with Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl and models Jessica Stam and Cassie to name a few. I was so starving (pouring rain in NY equals triple the time to get from one show to another equals no time to grab any kind of sustenance) that I chased down the boys with canapés like they were Chanel bags at a sample sale.

My first NYC fashion week starts off with some serious star sightings. Making the Toronto to NYC trek on Porter, I sat beside Diane Kruger who was met at the airport by her long-time beau Joshua Jackson. In what felt like the blink of an eye, I was racing off the plane and into the city to take my seat at the most anticipated show of NY fashion week: Marc Jacobs. Squeezing my way between the paps’ flashing bulbs and Kelly Osborne, Nicole Richie (looking beautiful by the way) and Helena Christensen, I found my seat...yes an actual seat at the hottest ticket in town!! Waiting for the crowds to settle down I caught glimpses of Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg and Rachel Zoe in a floor-length aubergine gown—such excitement for a little NY fashion newbie!! And then the show starts...

Catherine Malandrino celebrated her 10th anniversary with a pretty collection of her usual artsy, embellishments and a lovely statue of liberty motif on a pale taupe sheath. Jill Stuart showed pretty chiffon and organza confections, dresses that were perhaps a bit too sweet until she switched gears and added sporty stretch leggings and a jumpsuit to the collection.

For me, Fashion Week kicked off with BCBG Max Azria: Nice, fluffy jumpsuits and sexy dresses with a decidedly ’90s minimalist vibe served to confuse me as I tried to sport some of my hot new fall purchases while sweating profusely in the muggy NY heat! I hate to look at spring collections when it's so damn hot. It just doesn't make sense. It needs to be cold so I have something to look forward to!
