I (heart) New York

All of us fashionable ladies in the office can hardly contain ourselves when talk turns to Sex and the City: The Movie. (We’ve already bought our matinee tickets for May 30th!) So when I was asked to come by Davids on Bloor Street for an intimate little cocktail party to show off their Sex-themed windows, I could not pass it up. For the first time ever, Davids decided to unveil a window theme for their flagship store, with well-thought-out selections showing off the style of the four major females in the film (as well as the four leading men). Sponsored by Skyy Vodka, the low-key affair also showcased five yummy cocktails based on each of the women and one for Mr. Big, natch. The Samantha was naturally tarty, the Carrie was more refined, and so on.

After a very NYC-feeling evening, luckily for me, I was off to the real thing as I hit up the Big Apple for a press junket. It had been far too long since I visited one of my favourite cities, so shopping was obviously at the top of the list. Thankfully our hotel was only a ten-minute walk to SoHo, so we hit up the new Uniqlo store on Broadway (546 Broadway, 917-237-8800), where we bought a cute jean skirt and the perfect little jacket for summer. This stylish haven is basically a Japanese cross between H&M and American Apparel. After hitting some more shops, where we drooled over a $400 Alice and Olivia floor length floral, we pulled ourselves away, and continued onto Anthropologie. We definitely wanted to get our hands on the mini baby-blue salt and pepper grinders. Too cute!

Between tending to some business, having a quick manhattan with an NYC pal and dinner at the delicious Spice Market (the tasting menu was inspired and we thoroughly enjoyed the chicken samosas and the chocolate cake!), we made a stop at Macy’s in Herald Square to hit their amazing 5th floor shoe department. Still not sure how I walked away with only one pair of über-sexy snake skin Michael Kors flats, but I managed to reason with myself that, no matter how fabulous I would look, I didn’t want to get held up at customs on the way home.
