Back to life!
Posted on May 20, 2008
Sorry for abandoning you, dear readers, but I was buried under a mountain of veils, foam wedding cakes, $20,000 diamonds and countless dresses and bouquets. Yes, it’s production time for Mariage Québec and your poor Montreal editor doesn’t have a life!
But last Friday, I managed of course to rush out of my cover shoot, slip on my new lime Gaultier Soleil dress and green Marni wedges, and show up at spring’s ultimate party: the launch of the Koko lounge (10 Sherbrooke St., West, kokomontreal.com) at the swanky Opus Hotel. Trying to avoid the masses of people I had to talk to (everyone was there: gallerist Fred Loury, store owner Michel Brisson, designer Rad Hourani, bookers from Folio, all looking sharp), I elbowed my way to the bar, grabbed a sake popsicle on the way – I hadn’t had dinner! – and had a cigarette on the brand new terrace. Gorgeous view. I am definitely going back this summer with my (fantasy) holiday lovers.
Talkin’ about restaurants, last Thursday I checked out at Joe Beef’s newest little brother, McKiernan (2485 Notre-Dame, West, 514-759-6677). Check it out for light lunch snacks or tapas-style casual dinner, served with Fred Morin and Dave McMillan’s eternal touch of wry humour.
But this week I’m going on a diet and feeding my mind, which is sick of foie gras and cake icing. First stop: the Festival TransAmériques, which presents some of the world’s best dance and theater shows starting Thursday (until June 3, fta.qc.ca). Get your tickets fast!
Shown: Koko at the Opus Hotel.
