Princesses-in-training
Posted on September 26, 2006
In a recent fit of feng shui, I rearranged my bookcases in an attempt to declutter my home and my mind. I came across one of my favourite books, called Wear More Cashmere: 151 Luxurious Ways to Pamper Your Inner Princess by Jennifer "Gin" Sander (available at amazon.ca). It made me think that as 21st-century Wonder Women, we want it all. We want to bring home the bacon, the baby and the Balenciaga bags. Girls may just wanna have fun, but on our fashionable Ferris wheels of life, when do we get to stop and pamper our inner princesses?
I decided to kick-start my pleasure-seeking plan and booked an appointment to see the Spring 2007 collection from Canadian eveningwear designer Catherine Regehr. There is nothing like a room filled with racks of frothy confections to make a girl dizzy with delight. Regehr’s spring collection is sure to please her party-frock posse. With oodles of ruched and ruffled silk taffeta gowns and cocktail suits, one can conjure a grand evening of Moët and magic to the strains of Peggy Lee’s anthem “I Enjoy Being a Girl.”
After all, in the words of style icon Coco Chanel, “a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
