Toronto Fashion Week: Day four
Posted on March 21, 2008
Shown: Pink Tartan Fall 2008.
L’Oréal Fashion Week is coming to a close, and FASHION still has eighty-five dollars worth of fresh dry cleaning eagerly hanging in the closet. Hmm…mental note: Set up date with tall, handsome drink of water and wear one of these fabulous frocks. Trends spotted: Colourblocking, opaque tights, brights and a very chic trilby hat.

Toronto Fashion Week: Day three
Posted on March 20, 2008
Shown: GRETA CONSTANTINE Fall 2008. Photography by Sarah Casselman
The media lounge is starting to fill up with grumpy eds: Not enough food, the loo sitch is rather bleak, and the rain is starting to wreak havoc on blowouts and Bruno Frisonis. Best accessories spotted at the tents: Everything-but-the-kitchen-sink patent totes, jewel-tone cocktail rings, fedoras, bright scarves and feather hairbands. New must-have nail colour: Red.

Toronto Fashion Week: Day two
Posted on March 19, 2008
Shown: JOEFFER CAOC Fall 2008. Photography by Sarah Casselman.
Today’s raindrops made shoe options tricky for the style set. Seen at the tents: Burberry rainboots, metallic silver Rubber Duck booties and one fabulous pair of YSL Tribute platforms. Hey, when you’re standing that high off the ground nothing can touch you, not even the rain.

Toronto Fashion Week: Day one
Posted on March 18, 2008
Nathan Phillips Square was abuzz with L’Oréal Fashion Week banter. Topics du jour included: The article on Robin Kay in Toronto Life, model Coco Rocha walking in the Joe Fresh show, and who was wearing what in the front row. Project Runway winner Evan Biddell’s show kicked off the fashion festivities and drew an impressive crowd, but his collection failed to hold their attention. Note: Reality TV and the runway sometimes don’t mix.

Day Four: Soldier on
Posted on November 2, 2007
Today, the FASHION crowd looked a little weary–hence the dark oversized sunnies and the venti Starbucks cups. But like stylish soldiers, we fought through the crowds to get to our seats to see more cool Canadian fashion. On with the shows…

Day Three: Burning the midnight oil
Posted on November 1, 2007
FASHION arrived at the tents ready for a full (read: long) evening of spring shows. We arrive at our seats just as the lights dim and take our place in the front row beside The Toronto Star stylist (and FASHION’s fab friend) Derick Chetty.

Day Two: It's raining men
Posted on October 25, 2007
Slightly soggy but still devastatingly stylish, FASHION headed back to the tents for round two. On the way into the media lounge, we spotted our fave male fashionista and ultimate charmer, Fashion File’s Adrian Mainella. After a quick catch-up and an air kiss or two, FASHION sprinted back to our seats for the evening’s shows.

Day One: J'adore le printemps
Posted on October 23, 2007
The blue skies and mild breeze felt as though spring had sprung…and according to the fashion calendar, it has. FASHION started the day at the Tevrow + Chase spring presentation.

Day four – TGIF
Posted on March 21, 2007
After a late night (12 a.m.!) at the J.Lindeberg fashion show, hosted by Elmer Olsen Model Management at the Ultra Supper Club on Queen Street West, FASHION realized two things the next morning:
- Sunglasses and a slick of bright lipgloss do a feting femme good
- Blazer-wearing boys (in the show and the crowd) are on our style radar

Day three – Front row and fancy-free
Posted on March 19, 2007
Despite a few fashion casualties (felled by fierce-looking boots on sore feet), too much caffeine and too little sleep, the fashion pack turned up today looking perfectly turned out. Inside the Liberty Grand, spirits were still high and the ankle booties even higher. On with the shows…

Day two – Ruby Tuesday
Posted on March 16, 2007
Looking to spot some gems today, I was armed and ready with my Fashion Week essentials: Starbucks, a cellphone and sunglasses. After popping in at the Tevrow + Chase showroom to view the fall lineup (watch for print blouses, adorable bubble skirts and fab egg-shaped coats—j’adore!), I raced back to the Liberty Grand to join the fashion pack for today’s runway roster.

Day one – In Grand Style
Posted on March 15, 2007
Question: Has spring already passed me by? With the weather at a balmy 10 degrees and a cream Burberry duster coat sweetly whispering “spring” in my ear, I am already thinking about the new collections and knitwear for Fall 2007. On the (stilettoed) heels of the fall international collections in Milan and Paris, Toronto’s L’Oreal Fashion Week has officially begun with all of its fanfare, fashionistas and fabulousness.

Day five: Very fashionably late…
Posted on October 25, 2006
The final night of Toronto’s L’Oréal Fashion Week may have been on-trend, but it definitely was not on time. After waiting a full 1 hour 15 minutes, the lights dimmed and the music started. I put down my prosecco and picked up my pen…on with the show.

Day four: All work and no play…
Posted on October 20, 2006
Despite a few stiletto-wounded whimpers overheard in the show lineups last night, the energy was still electric après a full four days of the FDCC’s Canadian-cool Fashion Week. While the shows (thus far) have ranged from dazzling to disappointing, one thing is certain: All work and no play makes fashion a dull industry. Hence, the word on everyone’s collagen-plumped lips ce soir was: after-parties!
But before we can mix ’n’ mingle in our Manolos, I hear the call of the styled…

Day three: Mid-week mania
Posted on October 19, 2006
Stuck in a ghastly gridlock, I barely arrived in time for the next round of shows. After a quick pit stop at the media lounge to grab (the fashion editor fix of a diet coke and buffet bite) and gab (five hours a day for five days a week, and there is still more to chat about?) with some of fashion’s finest ladies and gents, I was back in my seat, feeling refreshed and revitalized for some ready-to-wear…

Day two: Rain, rain, go away…
Posted on October 18, 2006
The torrential rain on Tuesday didn’t wash away the fashion crowd, who arrived ready for round two. And while Burberry umbrellas bounced about outside the Muzik building, the fashion forecast inside was favourable.

Day one: Spring into action
Posted on October 17, 2006
In a flurry of cabs, canapés and Canadiana (love the gold maple-leaf pendants on the Fashion Design Council of Canada girls!), Toronto’s L’Oréal Fashion Week was off to a stiletto-strutting start.
