Quebec-born shoe designer Jerome C. Rousseau (jeromecrousseau.com), whose celeb fans include Charlize Theron, Cameron Diaz, Kristen Stewart and French indie actress Roxane Mesquida (star of the designer’s new campaign), was tapped by Disney to create a shoe to celebrate the launch of Tron Legacy, which opens December 17. It was a fortuitous opportunity–Rosseau loved the look of the original Tron as a teenager. The shoe, a metallic leather sandal that’s available in pewter or gold, were available at the Tron Legacy pop-up shop in L.A., which also featured specially-created bags from Brooklyn-based accesssories label Hayden-Harnett. You’ll be able to pick up these shiny beauties at specialty boutiques worldwide come February.

Anything yellow catches my eye, so on a trip to West Elm over the weekend, I made a beeline for these slick lacquered jewellery boxes ($39 each, westelm.com)–the peridot-hued ones, naturally. It’s perfect for storing my baubles without cluttering up my relatively minimal dressing table.

Will Swenson (Tick), Tony Sheldon (Bernadette) and Nick Adams (Felicia) in Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical. Photography by Joan Marcus
Last week, we had the unmitigated glittery delight of catching Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical (until January 2, mirvish.com), the story of three drag queens who set out across the Australian desert in the titular bus to do a gig at a casino in Alice Springs. The costumes, all 500 of them, were spectacular, and while it is certainly difficult to compete for attention with a dress made of flip-flops, the makeup–from glow-in-the-dark eyeshadow to glittery lipstick, was pretty great as well. To find out more about the production, we grilled lead makeup artist Justen Brosnan, whose credits include Broadway productions of The Drowsy Chaperone and Legally Blonde: The Musical, about the behind-the-scenes ballet and just how much glitter goes into the show. Joe Mimran (right) and his look-alike doll
*Sigh* Why must companies tease us by trotting out cult-y items that we want to own, but cannot actually buy? Case in point: Joe Mimran just had a Ken doll made in his image to celebrate Joe Fresh Style’s current line of Barbie merch. The doll has Mimran’s signature hair and is dressed in his signature blazer and open collar shirt and his signature velvet slippers complete with their signature crest. It’s so covetable. And so one-of-a-kind. Boo. Read more »

Kate Middleton‘s latest style gauntlet–the royal engagement photos–was thrown down over the weekend, which means that yes, there will be a whole new spate of Kate-inspired merch. In the photos, which were taken by Mario Testino, Middleton had the audacity to wear things that she already owned: a two-year-old cream blouse from Whistles and the £159 “Nanette” dress from Reiss–both UK-based high street chains. But don’t think that just because they’re not in stores anymore that you can’t buy them. Heavens no–don’t be silly! Read more »
