Making faces

By Amanda Losier
Faces Cosmetics (faces-cosmetics.com) has always held a special place in my make-up-loving heart, so I was ecstatic to attend a preview of their new products. Although the Canadian company was established in 1974, lately their shops seem to be scarce. If you haven’t seen them at your local mall, it could be because they’re busy setting up shop around the world (next up: India and Ecuador).
I showed up at the event equipped with an empty multi-compact that was sent with the invite, looking forward to filling it with shadows and blushes of my choosing—a service available at all their locations.
After trying their botanic-based skin care line, including a cleanser, exfoliant, moisturizer and their Perfecting Skin Smoother ($45), which my consultant called a hydrating shield for your skin, my normally dry face felt brilliantly hydrated. But what I really fell in love with was their new Crème Perfection mineral-based cream-to-powder foundation (shown, $30). Light on the skin, it still evened out my tone and filled any imperfections. As for my custom palette, I chose a pink eyeshadow with gold flecks that was swept across my lids. Still glowing from my killer complexion, I was sent away with a lipstick compact as well as their Make-up on the Go Brush Set ($65) and am now thoroughly enjoying playing with my loot at home.
