Coffee bum

Though I love a good cup just as much as the next person, I’m really picky about my coffee. Starbucks is way too bitterly strong, Second Cup is, well, meh and I don’t get why Tim’s is such a hit. And having bad coffee when I’m out for brunch can really make or break the meal. (I’m looking at you, Saving Grace.) I’ve recently stumbled upon a killer brew: Reunion Island’s Organic Ethiopia Sidamo, which I buy from a shop on Queen East called Red Rocket. I can even make it at home and it will taste just as delish—the true test.
In addition to the upbeat buzz and mental clarity that caffeine delivers, I also love that topically, it has skin-tightening benefits. That’s why I get off on body scrubs like Juara Invigorating Coffee Scrub (shown, $37, juaraskincare.com) and Perfect Organics Hazelnut Coffee Ultimate Body Scrub ($28, kocospa.com). The ground beans do a wicked job of buffing away dead skin and the smell is insanely good. Even though I can’t say for sure whether it’s really attacking my cellulite, I just feel better slathering the dark, fragrant grind into my thighs and butt. It can get a little messy in the shower—okay, if you get overzealous, it can look like you dumped your used filter in your tub—but java junkies shouldn’t care.
