French company Garnier launched its first hair tonic in 1904 and from the beginning, the company included natural ingredients in its products—that first hair tonic contained plant extracts. The company created the first at-home permanent hair colouring product in 1960, which made its acquisition by L’Oréal in 1965 only fitting. Garnier products still contain natural ingredients, including the brand’s signature fruit extract.
