I spent the holidays in Texas and wanted to bring some of the Lone Star State back to Canada for New Year’s Eve. How perfectly southwestern is this stars-and-stripes nail sticker pattern from Sephora by OPI? Over Christmas I wore the print as a feature nail to enhance an otherwise very neutral manicure (Deborah Lippmann’s “Naked”—the best mannequin hands colour!) but decided a strong kick of glitter was necessary for New Years. And by strong I mean an obsessive number of layers of polish to achieve the perfect multi-dimensional glitter effect. Starting with a base coat of gold, I alternated coats of red and silver-blue hexagonal glitter, painting in a V-shape from either the top or bottom of the nail. Make sure you leave a lot of drying time between layers, or your nails will still be tacky well into the early hours of January…
