After applying a base coat, I used Sally Hansen’s opaque, almost-white “Lavender Cloud” to paint the tips of my nails as though I was doing a French manicure. Next, I used a dotting tool to bust up the French tip by scattering dots of “Lavender Cloud” across my nail in almost a gradation from tip to base. I applied a sheer coat of a pink polish, followed by many coats of two Deborah Lippmann polishes: “Glitter in the Air,” which is a milky, scattered-glitter shade that never applies in the same way twice, and the almost-invisible, iridescent “Stairway to Heaven.” The result is a manicure that’s more Japanese nail art than high fashion, but it’s certainly just the thing to get you through a slushy, cloudy day.
