How to do the gingham manicure:
1) Choose your gingham colours: neon polishes work best because of their almost-translucent formula.
2) Forget about trying to paint straight lines directly on your nails—this will only end in tears! Instead, use a thin striping brush and the DIY nail transfer method to paint your gingham stripes on a clear base. I suggest painting a few more transfers than you have fingers: some may warp when you peel them off.
3) While the transfers are drying, paint each nail white. You want this polish to still be tacky when you apply the transfer (which needs about 10 minutes to dry before you can peel and stick it).
4) Use cuticle scissors and a brush dipped in acetone to clear up any messy edges.
