At 15, Gordon Espinet helped with the makeup for his older friends’ drama production of Tartuffe at Brock University. Soon after that, “I ran from St. Catharines to Toronto,” he says. After spending years as a freelancer (his first big gig was a Chatelaine cover), he joined M.A.C in 1990 as a trainer. Now the company’s senior vice-president of global artist training, development and makeup artistry, he’s the key artist at runway shows such as Elie Saab and Dsquared.
