The fall 2013 runways provided an inspired update on last season’s parade of prints and tricked-out fabrics. Bid farewell to traditional stripes and conventional checkers, the upcoming season’s head-to-toe prints are sure to have you have you straying from your comfort zone.

Designers are breathing new life into outdated prints for the upcoming fall season. Burberry’s grown-up take on the child-like heart print has us coveting pieces in the feminine motif. Meanwhile, both Michael Kors and Christopher Kane put camouflage back on our fashion radar, each of them giving the classic print a new colour palette. Issa and Just Cavalli included an exciting new selection of their signature kaleidoscopic prints for fall. Following in their path was Kenzo, whose psychedelic magic eye prints have us excited the street style photos to come.

The influence of spring’s floral print was present, with designers giving the flowery patterns a much-needed update. Vera Wang combined rich jewel tones for an oversized floral print, while Mary Katrantzou featured tress in full blossom on designs at her fall 2013 show. Also carried over from spring is the digital photo print fashion trend, looking increasingly futuristic, as seen at Lacoste and Sid Neigum. In the same artsy vein as the photo prints we welcome the art print. From Dior’s Warhol print bags to L’Wren Scott’s Klimt adorned gowns, the upcoming season encourages you to wear your art on your sleeve.
