Street style: Underground disco

While last week’s look was all about finding that understated cool factor in the sweltering heat, this week is all about over-the-top glam. Resplendent in gleaming gold accents, our streeter has all the style (and hair) of disco queen Donna Summer. Her gold-edged glasses, glittering skirt, bejewelled belt and gilded sandals are way too fab for the subway platform!

Street style: Hot chic

Sent scouting in the scorching Toronto heat this week (sorry girls!), our intrepid interns were on a mission to find chic city dwellers who braved the temperature in style.  I was afraid that we would only find mad dogs and Englishmen, but as it turns out, Toronto is fashion-focused, despite the weather.  The winner? A cute, cool-as-a-cucumber hipster. The baby pink oxfords are a great feminine foil to an otherwise boyish outfit.

Street style: Paparazzi perfect

Comments

Hot and sticky summer weather calls for lots of skin, and there was no better place to bare it than the annual S.M.U.T Soiree, a night of girly, gossip-filled festivities. (Check back next week for the video.) To beat the heat (and catch up on all the best scandalous scoop), our lovely donned leg-lengthening nude sandals, an icy-clear necklace and a silky watercolour jacket.

Street style: Pure and simple

While this streeter’s look isn’t totally “out there,” sometimes simple is best. Nothing beats black and white when you’re stumped for style inspiration–it always looks pulled together–and the printed top and lace-up sandals add a touch of interest.

Street style: Bowled over

It’s safe to say that the ’90s are back with a vengeance. While the fall runways were full of the decade’s minimalist looks, this week’s streeter steps out in era’s other big style: grunge. Distressed jeans? Check. Chunky shoes? Check? Slouchy plaid shirt? Check. Not that we’re complaining–her statement necklace and chic fringe make this look a winner.

Street style: Effortless office

Comments

We love our fashion intern Anna for lots of reasons, not the least of which is her cool downtown style.  She easily translates office-y separates (note the classic white shirt, tailored trouser and neutral shoe) into an effortless outfit perfect for a bright, sunny Friday.

Street style: French connection

It may just be my obsession with all things French talking, but this beret is adorable. For years, these hats have been clinging to the backs of craniums for dear life, but our streeter has pulled it way down over her forehead to where it belongs–front and centre.

Street style: Polished petals

I never tire of polished, feminine looks come springtime–they always feel right. The giant blown-out bloom, tiers of tiny petals and coordinating fuchsia lips, digits and heels are the epitome of pulled together, ladylike chic.
