We all know Atlantic Fashion week was frankly a joke, as for Drader-Murphy, she’s the only legitimate designer owning her own stores and a real production model in this part of the country, with international attention; NOTE the Superbowl where A-list celebrities walked away with her cosmetics and fashions and her various invitations to high-profile events throughout the fashion regions of the World. Realistically, the “punch” you seem to be looking for is from a “designer” who drafts their patterns on their dining room table and produces samples with unfinished seems OR buys out from private labels and just plasters their own name on the garments.

I attended Atlantic Fashion week. Nadine LaRoche sums up the shows perfectly; I was blown away by the creativeness and energy of the young designers as well as the maturity of the lines. Makes me so proud, both as a lifetime fashion follower and an East Coaster!

MacIsaac is an up and coming genius. I love her use of tartans and how she has brought them alive in the 21st century. Her boyfriend, Mark, owns and operates The Coastal Cafe on Robie. Together they can feed and clothe Halifax with designer food and fashion! How I wish I lived in Halifax!

It is wonderful to see how Veronica MacIsaac has taken Tartans to a whole new level.While her designs are sofisticated , most inspire a youthful, flirty edge which will draw the younger crowd to the fun side of Tartans.That can never be a bad thing,!

I can’t believe all of this happened in HALIFAX! Well, knowing Hali and all its local talent, I guess I can believe it. Thanks for highlighting how cool our city is – I bet a lot of people, even born-and-bred Haligonians, will be pleasantly surprised!

Great post, Nadine! I’m so glad to hear that Halifax Fashion Week is holding it’s own, especially since there are so many talented designers right under our noses. I actually went to high school with Veronica MacIsaac, and I had no idea that she was designing such unique pieces. Good for her!
