Vancouver: Visit the spa, lend a hand

Skoah (skoah.com) is a Vancouver-based spa and skin-care product line that believes everyone needs time to relax. They also believe that no one is more deserving of some downtime than the parents of terminally ill children.

As such, Skoah has created a charitable organization called the Hopeful Hand, which works with the B.C. Children’s Hospital to develop programs to help these parents cope with the challenging circumstances they face by offering a yoga/relaxation studio and an education program for accessing help and community services. To raise the funds necessary to support these endeavours, Skoah donates 100 per cent of the profits from their Hand Love hand lotion ($9) to the cause. On occasion, the spas also offer the Hopeful Hand facial, from which $10 goes back to the charity.
Skoah also recently held an event at their Yaletown spa (1011 Hamilton St., 604-642-0200) to raise awareness and money for the cause. Fiona Forbes of Urban Rush and Karen Khunkhun of CFOX hosted the event, DJ Leanne spun some beats and models showed off spring and summer styles from Vancouver’s beloved One of a Few and Two of a Few boutiques. All around, it was a night of great fun and all for a good cause! If you missed the event, you can still buy a bottle of Hand Love at any of Skoah’s two Vancouver locations.
