Saskatoon: The better way

My latest find is a new store that has opened up on Broadway, my favourite shopping district. The Better Good Store Ltd. (640 Broadway Ave, 306-242-4663, thebettergood.com) is a one-stop eco-friendly shop for products that support sustainable living–carrying everything from clothing and home decor, to cleaners and body care products, to delectable treats and kids toys. All their stock is either organic, fair trade, natural, local, handmade or crafted from reused, recycled or renewable materials.
My favorite line is Toms, (tomsshoes.com) known for canvas shoes inspired by the traditional Argentine alpargata. For every pair sold the company donates a pair to a child in need. Founded just 3 years ago in entrepreneur Blake Mycoskie’s loft, the company now does monthly Shoe Drop Tours in Argentina and plans to donate another 300,000 pairs this year.
The Better Good is very involved in the community and strives to help others live a sustainable lifestyle. The store offers story time for kids and free yoga lessons every Sunday at 10 a.m. down by the river at Rotary Park. To top it all off, 10 per cent of the store’s profits are also donated to local and international charities.
Going green has never felt so good!
