Calgary: Pocket style from Braithwaite Wallets

For many men, shopping is not exactly at the top of a to-do list, so when it comes to buying a gift for the man in your life, take the opportunity to sprinkle some style his way. My suggestion, check out the sleek and funky designs of Braithwaite Wallets (braithwaitewallets.com), created by designers Nick Stratichuk and founder Connor Ferster.
The Calgary-based company produces five clever, well-crafted models. The wallets are made in the same factory as Coach bags and three of the styles—Cypress, The Sunrise and The Vagabond–are held together with Kevlar stitching (the same material used to create bulletproof vests). That in itself will give your boy toy bragging rights when he shows off his new accessory. Stratichuk’s Orpheus wallet (shown, $115), designed for guitar players, holds three picks in addition to the standard card slots and cash pouch and will definitely pluck at his heartstrings.
For you crafty gals out there, Braithwaite curiously offers design specs on their website. After reading a comment about stealing the design concepts on a Boing Boing post about the brand, Ferster decided to take it as a compliment. By teaming up with Creative Commons, a non-profit corporation that provides free copyright licensing, Ferster and Stratichuk can share their work, royalty free, while still maintaining authorship credit.
