Designer Relief
While we’ve all been busy shopping our closets, smaller designers have been hit hard by our new spendthrift habits. In New York, fashion news website Refinery29 decided to speak up for the little guys (and gals) by launching Save Fashion (savefashion.com), a pop-up boutique in the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan’s Garment District. Running for four weeks, each sees the list of designers change, with the third week being just for the lads. When we visited during week one we saw gorgeous leather bags from Gryson, summer dresses from Wren and dark neutral basics from Rick Owens (who’s name was cheekily inserted with question marks as his inclusion was to be kept a secret). Other designers include: Acne, Helmut Lang, Rag & Bone, Nudie Jeans, Lorick and Band of Outsiders. Most prices are under $200 and Save Fashion runs until May 27.
