Leggings, ahoy! Lindsay Lohan joins Emanuel Ungaro

sept09readslohanOMG. The rumours were true–La Lohan has been appointed artistic advisor to the the house of Emanuel Ungaro. This news comes with the installation of Estrella Archs as chief designer for the label, replacing wünderkind Esteban Cortazar, who left the house amid swirls of the LiLo coming aboard. This is all very…odd.Archs herself comes with a decent pedigree. She attended Central Saint Martins and has worked with Miuccia Prada and the houses of Nina Ricci and Emilio Pucci. Lohan, on the other hand, has lent her skills to leggings and self-tanner.

The company is positioning this as a muse situation: “Twenty-first Century muses are extroverts whose personal style and experience gives them a strong creative and artistic focus.” says Ungaro president Mounir Moufarrige. “Thus was our vision of combining the eye of a fashion creator (Ms. Archs) with the eye of the ultimate luxury consumer, a celebrity (Ms. Lohan).” Time will tell whether Lohan will be what, say, Loulou de la Falaise was for Yves Saint Laurent. We doubt it, but she’s at least proven herself articulate about fashion–witness her recent turn as a Project Runway judge. We can all hold our breath till October, when the fruits of the collaboration will take to the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

  • Anna says:

How is she qualified to do this? Whatever happened to good old credentials? I won’t be buying Ungaro anytime soon…

  • She desperately needs to lose the fake tan, return to her natural hair colour and stop injecting her lips. She looks terrible but she is probably still a beautiful girl underneath all the fake hair, lips and tan.

Collection is tacky beyond belief btw. I am a wee bit younger than her as well so I should be of the generation that this is designed for.
