Mark Fast’s size scuffle, model flops at Phillip Lim and more
Mark Fast’s show at London Fashion Week is causing a stir for his use of three average-sized models. Two staff members–the stylist and creative designer–quit because of the decision. The real upset here is that it’s even a big deal that these girls are giving the rake-thin beanpoles a run for their money. There’s plenty of room on the runway for everyone, right? What do you think of Fast’s decision? Do you want to see more realistic sizes on the runway? Tell us in the comments!
Poor Phillip Lim, one of his models took several tumbles during her trips down the catwalk, while an intern (we’re not sure for whom) vomited into her hands. Instead of exiting such a shameful situation, the intern stayed for the show, puke and all. Now that’s the way to get hired–I mean fired. [The Cut]
The in-debt designer Christian Lacroix has received two new offers to finance the couture powerhouse. Names haven’t been named, but the Paris court will decide the future of the company in the next few weeks. [The Cut]
Christian Siriano, the youngest Project Runway winner, has teamed up with Starbucks for an upcoming holiday project and will be creating a full collection for Uma Thurman in Eloise in Paris. The popular designer has also published a book called Fierce Style: How to be Your Most Fabulous Self due out in October. Someone needs to coin a new fashion filler word for “fierce” and “fabulous” because we’re sick of hearing both. [Racked]
Tommy Ton, photoblogger for Jak & Jil, has replaced the Sartorialist’s Scott Schuman as style.com’s fashion-friendly streetwalker. Ton will be shooting pics of the most fashion-forward folk in Paris, Milan, New York and London during the ready-to-wear shows. [Fashionologie] [Style.com]
