Isaac Mizrahi looked to the stars for his next career move. The designer’s psychic advised him to open a store, prompting his new shop opening at 67th and Madison. Perhaps Mizrahi’s psychic has an ulterior motive? [The Cut]
It’s been confirmed that Martin Margiela is no longer involved in the design process for his company, Maison Martin Margiela. Rumours are swirling around his replacement–most pointing the finger at Haider Ackermann–although Diesel founder Renzo Rosso, who has a majority stake in Martin Margiela, would not name names, saying only, “We have a new fresh design team on board.” [Vogue UK]
Kirsten Dunst is starring in a new film: a short that follows the actress hopping around downtown Tokyo dressed in full Harajuku girl garb. The film is part of the Tate Modern exhibit “Pop Life: Art in a Material World,” created by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. [FWD]
We’re all still basking in the afterglow of Tom Ford’s directorial debut A Single Man, and he’s already got another project in the works. The designer-turned director has penned a new script that he says is “very different” from his first film, going on to say, “I don’t want to talk about it yet. I just finished editing two weeks ago, so it’s not out of my system yet.” Ford doesn’t want to talk about his women’s line either, but apparently the target launch date is fall 2011, with the company already seeking $50 million in funding. Coach is suing Target again. For the second time, Coach alleges that Target ripped off their signature handbag designs. [Racked]
B.C. Fashion Week came to an abrupt halt Friday afternoon after a financial fiasco. Production company Showmax took down the stage mid-show after a debt of $5000 went unpaid. But the show must go on–and it did, at the Chinese Cultural Centre, with its stage missing in action. [CTV]
