Event: Preloved’s Julia Grieve and vintage jewellery queen Carole Tanebaum talk upcycling tomorrow

Vintage mavens and do-it-yourself designers should head down to the Textile Museum of Canada (55 Centre Avenue, Toronto, 416-599-5321, textilemuseum.ca) tomorrow night for panel discussion on upcycling (i.e. making old stuff new). Preloved’s Julia Grieve (an expert in this area) will join vintage costume jewellery maven Carole Tanenbaum for the talk, titled Fashion Forum: Style Alchemy. National Post fashion writer Nathalie Atkinson moderates. Afterward, mingle among mannequins styled by some of the best vintage retailers in the city including 69 Vintage and The Cat’s Meow. As a bonus, Queen West’s Poutini’s will offer their gourmet greasy spoon favourite, which you can wash down with some trendy-again rosé. Tickets are $15 at the door. Talk starts at 6:30 p.m.

I love the idea of up-cycling- what a natty phrase! I favour the term preloved- we have to show everyone that our clothes can be loved again and again- one woman’s treasure and all that!
Especially with the interest in vintage these days….go girls!
