It looks like Daul Kim did indeed commit suicide. Paris police say her boyfriend found her hanged in her apartment. In a recent entry on her blog, the South Korean model stated “the more i gain the more lonely it is … i know i’m like a ghost i have nothing but myself.” [AP, The Cut]
If you didn’t already have tons of totally rational jealousy over Style Rookie blogger Tavi Gevinson‘s Rodarte friendship and fashion week access, here’s another bit for you: The 13-year-old will be the guest of honor next week at the Comme des Garçons party in Tokyo. [WWD]
Giles Deacon will keep his show in Paris. The London designer jumped to the City of Light for the Spring 2010 shows after winning the ANDAM award. Of the move, Deacon said, “Sales were up 42 per cent for the spring collection, and a lot of new buyers came to the show. I work in London, employ people here, but I need to look at the bigger picture.” [Vogue UK]
Matt Tyrnauer‘s documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor is on the shortlist for Oscar nominations. At the film’s Milan premiere last night, the designer said, “What can I say? An Oscar would be an incredible crowning for an emperor.” [WWD]
