Christopher Kane for Topshop

British fast-fashion chain Topshop may be part of the Bay’s renaissance, which has included a lavishly revamped The Room at the department store’s Toronto Queen Street location, and a deal to create the official Vancouver 2010 Olympics merch. Though rumours (or just wishful thinking on the part of the local fashion population) of a possible partnership have been around for a while, HBC CEO Jeff Sherman confirmed to ROB Magazine that his company is in talks with Topshop to put their boutiques in Bay stores. Say Sherman:

“We’re talking to them but we have not struck a deal. I’d like to. That’s an indication of how we’re thinking of using a lot of the space in our stores. We’re going to start taking a look at food and restaurants and entertainment venues. We’ve been talking to GoodLife Fitness. We’re trying to make that happen.”

So it sounds like a maybe–and a maybe that’s quite heavily rumoured to be happening for Spring 2010. We have to wonder if the in-store boutiques would carry, say the Christopher Kane for Topshop collection or one of the other Brit designer collabs that we spend our time slavering over.
