Fashion news: Burkas on the runway, glaciers at Chanel and Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry

A few designers flipped the French government the bird during Paris Fashion Week: In the midst of a heated ongoing debate in the country regarding banning burkas, designers Marithé and François Girbaud and Jean Charles de Castelbajac incorporated interpretations of burkas into their shows. Amy Winehouse is set to design for Fred Perry. Apparently she’s always been a huge fan, but…seriously Amy Winehouse is designing a collection for Fred Perry? Anyway, it hits stores in October. [Vogue UK]

Chanel had a 265-tonne man-made glacier shipped from Sweden, but you can’t import water into France, so they had to ship it back after the show. [The Cut]
