I actually won a “Prom Nightmare” contest sponsored by a newspaper by submitting a photo of two of my high school friends who showed up at the prom in the same dress. Of course, they were terribly flattered to see themselves in the fashion section in their dusty rose taffeta concoctions with lampshade-style sleeves and peplums ca. 1983. Who wouldn’t be?
