They said/We said: Nicki Minaj and Prince will be performing at Versace for H&M launch next week
In a merging of all things wonderful, we are thrilled to report that the musical guests at the Versace for H&M launch in New York on Tuesday night will be none other than Nicki Minaj and Prince. The equally flamboyant performers are just a hint of what amazingness we’re in store for, and if H&M’s last blowout fashion show was any indication, we’re in for a three-pronged treat. Seriously. If a duet of “Super Bass” or “Purple Rain” actually happens, we just might explode.
THEY SAID…
Donatella Versace: “I am so pleased to share with so many the excitement of this collaboration with H&M. To have my friend, the great, the amazing, the one and only Prince, and the extraordinary Nicki Minaj both perform at the event, will create exactly the feeling of joy and glamour I want this partnership to express.” [WWD]
Fashionista: “While there’s no word yet on whether Nicki and Prince will be doing a duet, we’re praying to the fashion gods that they do. And that they’ll be wearing layers of Versace for H&M while they do it.” [Fashionista]
Styleite: You can’t launch a multinational, high-concept designer fast-fashion collaboration without a bang, and Versace for H&M is trying its damnedest not to disappoint. [Styleite]
MTV style: “ZOMG a thousand times and a then a little louder for emphasis. The worlds of fashion and music are SUPER COLLIDING in an explosion of neon palm trees, flying hearts, and what we assume will be a man in a crazy vivid suit and heels next to a young lady we can only imagine will be spilling her fashionable lady assets all over some INSANE studded leather dress that is too sizes too small.” [MTV style]
WE SAID…
Michael White, managing editor: “Given that the Versace for H&M line has already been widely previewed, the foremost mystery at this event must be if the 5’5” Donatella chose Prince and Nicki Minaj as musical guests because she wants to ensure she’s the tallest person in the green room.”
