Karl Lagerfeld On The Subject Of Anorexia

In today’s edition of Sh*t Karl Says, he’s spoken out about anorexia in the fashion industry (which he has deemed “ridiculous”) and junk food.

Karl Lagerfeld headed to London to launch the Chanel Little Black Jacket Exhibit, and subjected himself to an interview with London’s Chanel 4 news. Instead of chit-chatting about tweed coats, the journalist decided to ask the Kaiser if he feels a sense of responsibility to design clothing for healthier looking models.

Karl’s answer is a definitive no. “I’m sorry to say it’s a subject that I consider on the bar of ridiculous for several reasons. The story with anorexic girls–nobody works with anorexic girls. It has nothing to do with fashion. People who have that, they have issues with family and things like this.”

For Karl, anorexia is not the problem, junk food is. He went on to say, “There are less than 1% of an girls [who are] anorexic, but in France over 30% of girls are big overweight. And that is much more dangerous and very bad for the health. So I think today with the junk food in front of the TV and things like that is something dangerous for the health or to girls. The models are skinny but they’re not that skinny.”

We think it may be better if Karl just sticks to talking about himself, that always provides for laughs rather than head-shakes and criticism.
