Just following the success of his recent Spring 2013 show in Paris, it has been announced today that Nicolas Ghesquière is to leave Balenciaga.

According to WWD, the designer, who has been creative director of the French brand for 15 years, confirmed today that they have made a “joint decision to end their working relationship”, which will end on November 30.

In a statement released PPR Chairman Francois-Henri Pinault said, “With an incomparable creative talent, Nicolas has brought to Balenciaga an artistic contribution essential to the unique influence of the house.”

Ghesquiere has brought much acclaim and commercial success to the storied French house, which includes the recent release of the Kristen Stewart fronted Florabotanica perfume campaign as well as countless additions to trend vernacular over the years, most recently his sci-fi sweaters omnipresent within all recent street style photos.

No word yet on who his successor will be at Balenciaga, or even where Nicolas Ghesquière is headed himself, but we can safely say that this replaces the whole Raf/Jil/Dior, at least this month.
