New Years Eve Outfits

With the holidays upon us and only two weeks to go until New Year’s, our Style Panel this week wasn’t challenged, but rather given the opportunity to showcase what they’ll be wearing and doing come New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Eve outfits can usually mean glitz and glamour, but it is also a great way to capitalize on this season’s best trends and show off that special outfit. A runway like Gianfranco Ferre’s Fall 2012 collection had the sparkle and gold on full display, and is a great inspiration for your sartorial choices for New Year’s Eve.

Our Style Panel members this week showed us what they plan on wearing to ring in 2013, and the glitz and glam was on full display, whether in the form of Kayla Short’s black glittery dress or in Whitney Cosgrave’s casual but glitzy shirt. So take cue from our Style Panel this week, and ring in the New Year with glitz and glam.

Christmas is most definitely the most wonderful time of the year just because of the fact that people rest their jeans and glam it up with dresses–that doesn’t happen everyday especially in Calgary! I have no definite plans this holiday season but rest assured that this year it would be time spent with family and friends instead of partying it up Downtown. Nonetheless, I am dressing up in this cobalt blue sequinned peter pan collared dress while sharing laughs and clicking bubbly after bubbly until it’s time to countdown to 12. 2012 was definitely a rough year for me but I am so over it and ready to welcome 2013 with a bang!

KD’s wearing: Dress, Eshakti. Shoes, Go Jane. Sunglasses, D&G. Clutch, thrifted. Watch, Michael Kors. Jewels, Sewsephine, Hillberg and Berk, Michael Hill, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Lips, MAC Satin. Nails, Dior.

NYE has never been a huge debacle for me or anyone in my general vicinity, and my plans are usually only determined a few days or a few hours prior to the ubiquitous ball drops. However, as to not be over-presumptuous, it seemed only appropriate to factor in some casual/not-so-casual *sparkle* somewhere in the undecided equation…because clichéd or not, shiny things are really, completely, and always necessary.

I think it is fun to add a little sparkle to your New Year’s Eve outfit, but of course, (for me anyways) comfort is key. I paired my sequin mini with a cozy sweater for the best part of both worlds!

New Years Eve Outfits Sandy Joe Karpetz

Sandy Jo Karpetz, 25
Edmonton | The Pretty Secrets

My last night of the year will be spent at an old theatre in Edmonton watching my friends in Shout Out Out Out Out and Wild Ways perform their groovy hits. Looking the part of a 60s flower child the best I can in subzero temperatures will include a silk tasseled kimono and a DIY present-topper crown. I’ll be channeling the vibe of a decadent present, wrapped in velvet and fur.

Sandy’s wearing: Dress, vintage. Silk Kimono, Tattered Rose. Tights, Betsey Johnson. Boots, vintage. Muskrat Fur Coat, vintage. Silver clutch, vintage. Holly & Present Crown, Handmade by me.

My plans are still up in the air, but two things are always certain, I’ll be welcoming 2013 with sparkle and champagne. Sparkle is mandatory for NYE for me! For this look I went for an all sequin dress in blush, and a gold belt to accentuate my waist. I kept all my other accessories minimal, and my hair up in a chic bun to let the dress do all the talking. The easiest way to glam up any outfit during the holidays is with a sleek sock bun. Wishing you love and peace for 2013!

This year my New Years plans are up in the air. There are a few options in the works and they are all so different that I am trying to plan an outfit that is both comfortable but still has a little New Years glitz. This black dress and sequin blazer combination is exactly what I’m looking for so I think it could be the perfect outfit to ring in 2013!

New Years is probably one of the most exciting times of the year. With a brand new year ahead, and plenty of good intentions I thrive on the excitement of it all. When it comes to dressing for New Years Eve events I tend to like to over do it a bit: hence the sequins and red lipstick. Dresses like these aren’t in high rotation in my wardrobe, but when they do finally make their grand appearance they certainly do not go unnoticed. I love dressing up and so I take full advantage of the excitement of NYE and opt for a bold red lip and as much sparkle as I can get away with.

They say how you spend New Year’s Eve is how you’re going to spend the rest of your year, so when the world is counting down the last moments of 2012, I plan on being with my amazing friends. The details are still somewhat in the air, but we’ll likely enjoy dinner together and ring in the year over some cocktails. This year outfit is a copper jumpsuit that I’ve paired with an vintage fur coat I found in at an antique store in Orillia, Ontario. I’ve learned from years past, to come prepared with warm clothes, as cabs are rare and I usually end up walking a bit. So stay warm, plan a safe way home, and have a great night everyone!

New Year’s Eve is such a magical time, excitement is in the air and a clean slate awaits us all when the clock strikes 12. I love getting dressed up to welcome the new year which is preceded by the hunt for a dress worthy of the night’s enchantment. This dress is magical. It fits like a glove, is the perfect length and let’s talk about the velvet circling the neckline and then down the arms! I paired the dress with these Truth or Dare by Madonna heels that just take the dress to a whole new level. I feel SO good in this outfit! As far as New Year’s Eve plans I don’t have anything concrete yet but no matter where I end up, as long as I’m with my friends and feeling like a million bucks it will be a great night! Happy Holidays everyone!

I can’t believe how FAST 2012 has flown by! It feels like just yesterday I was spending my NYE in Portugal with some of my closest friends! During my vacation there, I came across some awesome finds like this sequin top, which I have been holding on to for this year! The deep V back and full on gunmetal gray sequins is all I need to jazz up my outfit. As for what I am doing this year to ring in the new year, I have no idea yet, but either way this top paired with leather leggings and wedges are perfect for a night out or even an intimate night in with friends. Happy 2013 and all the best in the New Year!

Christina’s wearing: Top, Zara. Leggings, Danier. Clutch, Aldo. Wedges, Zigi NY. Rings, vintage and Live Love Shop.

I’m just having a low key NYE this year–I’m going to dinner with my boyfriend, my sister and my brother in law at a cute little local spot. I’m planning to wear a fairly casual look, but dress it up with fun details like my sparkly shoes and feather clutch.

New Years Eve Outfits Kristin MacDonald

Kristin MacDonald, 27
Fredericton, NB | Doll Parade

New Years Eve is always a favorite to dress for. Any excuse to get completely dolled up and hit the town (early to boot!) is fine by me and I’ve had NYEs that have been both dressed down and cozy and glitzy and dressy. This NYE I’ll be heading to an evening wedding, which lends to dressing both romantic and classy, but fun and festive. I am looking at pairing some of my favorite fancy elements for the occasion, pairing a vintage sequin dress in a midi length with a faux fur stole. Add some rhinestone embellishments and a wool cape for travels and I am set to celebrate. Whatever you do or wear, have a very Happy New Year!
