With a month long of Fall 2013 fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris coming to a close and Toronto Fashion Week just revving up, our mental shopping notes are already full with all the new things we want added to our closet. Heeled oxfords! Mini globes! Next level grunge! Most mere mortals will have to wait at least six months for Fall 2013’s newness to hit the ground floor, but we’ve found a few ways to get in on the trends you’re drooling over right now. The best part? You won’t be spending a dime. From Prada’s ever-clever fur and gingham combo to Chanel’s necklace-over-hair combo, our very own editors are showing you 5 chic and easy ways to get on your favourite Fall 2013 trends ASAP.

Fall 2013 Trend: Gingham and plaid

Miuccia Prada brought her a-typical love for pairing fur with summer materials to another level by showing bright gingham print skirts alongside fur collars and trims on Prada’s Fall 2013 runway.

Pictured here, fashion assistant Eliza Grossman breaks the look down by wearing a long fur collar over a simple gingham button down shirt from American Apparel. Try your hand at this look with any similarly light piece of fur and you’re ready to brave all seasons.

Fall 2013 Trend: The necklace over hair look

Chanel took necklace-wearing to the next level by tucking models’ hair underneath. Providing the ultimate showcase for bling-worthy pieces, this look is certainly the simplest on our list to accomplish.

Pictured here on beauty editor Sarah Daniel, a chunky gold Kenneth Jay Lane necklace is worn simply over semi-tucked hair. You’ll want to make sure that your hair still has a bit of body to it. Otherwise, it’ll look and feel weighed down.

Fall 2013 Trend: The dressed-up sweatshirt

Sweatshirts have long since morphed out of the gym and onto the runways, but Givenchy’s Fall 2013 take on the trend was what made us want to experiment further. Designer Riccardo Tisci paired a childlike Bambi-printed sweatshirt with delicate multi-layered silk skirts—the perfect blend of casual and dressy.

Pictured here, Caitlin Agnew, our assistant editor/research, pairs her Holt Renfrew x Alex Viau sweatshirt with a more feminine silk and lace skirt, opaque tights and black Pierre Hardy heels. While the look promotes a sense of “anything goes” dressing, you’ll want to make sure that your proportions are balanced. If the sweatshirt is baggy, stick to a more streamlined skirt. If the opposite, swap!

Fall 2013 Trend: The coat-over-coat

Seen on the runways at Carven, MaxMara and Rochas to name a few, designers took the more is more approach to outerwear by pairing two matching or similar coats overtop one another. While extremely simple to recreate, the look elevates outerwear to a whole new level.

Pictured here, our health and acting beauty editor Rani Sheen wears her vintage black overcoat overtop a tailored plaid Philip Sparks blazer. For the full effect, keep your coat open and wide to reveal the layers underneath.

Fall 2013 Trend: The million necklaces look

While this is already a common style for Kanye West, Alber Elbaz showed a sophisticated yet cheeky take on bling by wearing many thick gold and silver chains at once.

Pictured here on senior fashion news editor Sarah Casselman, the more is more look is accomplished simply by going for broke. Pair as many as you like, but keep a common shape or colour pallete in mind.
